Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Recently took an HSV 1 and 2 IgM (Immunoglobulin M) and IgG (Immunoglobulin G) test. While I have no HSV (herpes simplex virus) IgG, my HSV IgM is 1.87. I recently suffered from balanitis. I am previously vaccinated for chickenpox. Is it possible that I do not have any HSV infection, and the spike in IgM is on account of the balanitis?
Kindly help.
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
It is possible that you do not have any HSV since the levels are very low. Additionally, HSV (herpes simplex virus) does not cause balanitis; rather, it is caused by bacterial organisms. The increase in IGM levels is not due to HSV, but rather a bacterial infection associated with your balanitis condition.
I hope this information helps you.
Feel free to ask further queries.
Thank you.
