Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have a horizontal ridge on my right toe and it makes me difficult to walk. I am facing this problem for few months after a trauma. Earlier I do not have any ridges on the nail except a slight one and skin around the toe used to cause itching. Now after applying the cream, I do not have itching and the nail ridge has not gone. I am using Perfectil tablets. Please help me. I am under stress for five months due to it.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It is due to Beau's lines and it occurs due to sudden interruption of nail keratin synthesis after some kind of trauma or deficiency. If the trauma subsides, then they will also subside. As they indicate a past trauma, (attachment removed to protect patient identity) nothing can be done with the current situation.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

How many days will it take to subside? I am under a lot of stress. Do I need to take any tests? What are the foods to be taken to cure it?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

It can take up to six months to get subsided. There is no specific diet recommended for it. You can take good food with regular exercise and make sure that you are not taking food deficient with iron. Iron and multivitamins can help you a lot.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
