Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I just saw a bedsore on the upper side of my father's leg. He is a congestive heart failure patient and got bedsores because he does not move regularly. Sometimes, the skin becomes dark. Please suggest a treatment for the same.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern. I have gone through the image you have attached (attachments removed to protect the patients' identity), and it suggests a bedsore. The best treatment is to avoid pressure in that area. I suggest he should sleep in a position where the point is upwards (lateral position or prone position). Is he having any pain? Are you applying any ointment? Please answer the questions I asked so that I can guide you better. Wish you good health.
Thanks.
Patient's Query
Thank you doctor for the reply,
The doctors have prescribed Megaheal ointment. What do you suggest? Can you suggest some vitamin tablets or other ointments? Should he avoid sleeping in the position where the bedsore touches the bed? What else can we do to avoid more bedsores? What stage is the bedsore now, and will it increase?
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Avoid pressure over that area and do not allow the bedsores to touch that area. With Megaheal (colloidal silver), you can also apply Neosporin powder (Bacitracin, Neomycin, and Polymyxin B) to keep it dry. If possible, use an air bed because it helps prevent further bed sores. Make sure he changes his posture frequently. Do not allow the area to become wet by urine, sweat, or stool, and keep it open for the maximum time. Please let me know if he is diabetic.
Thank you.
