Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have a brother and he is doing crazy things. I am the only one in my family taking care of him. There is no one to care about him and I need some help to identify his problem. My brother believes that he is the person who created heaven and earth. He believes that he can bring a dead person alive. He believes that he can move the moon and stars at night. There are times where I saw my brother sleeping outside the grass. He uses to place candles all around the house. My other brother told me that he started acting like this after having schizophrenia. I do not know anything about schizophrenia.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You are worried about your brother. From your description, it seems like your brother is having delusional beliefs and related unusual odd behavior. It seems to be suggestive of psychosis. Conditions like schizophrenia and bipolar mood disorder can cause these types of symptoms. Persons using illicit substances can experience these symptoms. If it is present from a young age, then it can be related to a learning disability. Your brother needs to consult a psychiatrist for having a thorough assessment to get treated. Taking medication and therapy helps a lot. Family support is crucial. Encourage him to see a doctor and help him to avoid being isolated. Encourage him to maintain his self-care and daily activities.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
