Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
My husband is suffering from bipolar disorder. He takes Lithium 450 mg daily and tablet of Sizodon LS at night. Initially, he used to take half a tablet of Sizodon LS. But now, again, he is complaining of excessive sleep during the daytime. His mania symptoms have reduced but have not gone completely. Please suggest any change in medication or dosage. Please help.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Your husband has a manic episode. His symptoms reduce on medication. If he has excessive sedation in the daytime, you can now stop his Sizodon LS (Risperidone). It was given for acute manic episodes and to calm patients. Once the patient starts improving, then you can take off and stop it. At present, if he still has manic symptoms, then you can add Lithium up to 1200 mg per day. I suggest you to get investigations done such as complete blood count, thyroid profile, vitamin B12, and vitamin D3.
I hope this information will help you.
Thank you.
