Can frequent urination be a sign of bladder cancer?

Hello doctor,

I urinate constantly, even during the night, and it is becoming frustrating. My doctor mentioned that it could be bladder cancer, but I always thought cancer usually causes pain or blood in the urine, not just frequent urination. How could this be a sign of cancer? Does it mean the tumor is large and pressing on something?

I do not have a UTI or kidney stones, so I am feeling pretty confused. If this does turn out to be cancer, would the frequent urination go away with treatment? Also, what kinds of tests should I be asking for to confirm whether this is cancer or something else? Please help.
