Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, and I am worried about my own risk of getting it. Is it hereditary?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

If there is a family history of breast cancer then there is some chance to get breast cancer, but it is not like if your mother has breast cancer you will also have it 100 percent but as there is some risk indeed so you should be more careful, you should regularly do self-breast examination, look for if there is any lump, discoloration or discharge from the nipple, compare both the breast, if you feel there is any abnormality, you should consult with a surgeon or a gynecologist. Also, every three years you should do mammography.

I hope this information helps you. Feel free to ask further queries.

Regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
