Are taking medications to grow bigger breasts and prominent hips a good idea?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi,

I am 16 years old. I have a question, and I would like some professional input. I know my body is still developing at this stage, and it does not really stop until the age of 18, if not older. I have recently been contemplating taking medications that would aid me in growing bigger breasts, more prominent hips, etc. My genetics do not carry big breasts, so I just need to know if you think this is a good idea or not. I hope to hear from you soon. Thank you for your time.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

This age is really a period of life with lots of changes that sometimes you are not fully aware of. Many points I would like to ask from you in history, but at present, I will try to answer your question for your satisfaction and benefit. All the changes that are happening and going to happen in this time period of life in a lady are gradually affecting her as all of this happens in response to specific hormones, which give a command to different parts of the body to grow and behave in a specific manner. Genetics matters but at present natural body hormones need time to work on your body to fully develop what has been planned by your own system. My sincere suggestion for you at present is not to disturb your natural process by taking hormonal medications that can have generalized effects on your whole body.

I suggest you can have exercises, yoga, physiotherapy, and the massage that are safe and will not affect you wrongly if you have them in a proper way. Better take a healthy, nutritious diet. Hormonal treatments like contraceptives (combined) even nourish the female body and give it shape and feminine beauty but have side effects as well, like breast tenderness, weight gain, irregular periods, etc., and if used for a long time, can lead to breast cancer, endometrial cancer, stroke, hypertension, etc. Similarly, many drugs that have been used for feminine beauty have their own long-term side effects, mostly hormones. Hormonal intake, if not used for any disease, can behave unpredictably as well in the long term.

I hope I have answered your query.

Thanks and regards.
