Should I worry about a painless breast lump and discharge?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 44 years old. I have rheumatoid arthritis. I cannot walk, so somebody lifts me every day to the restroom. Recently I noticed a lump on my breast; it is red, and white liquid leaks when pressed my nipples, but I do not have any pain. The shape and texture of the breast are normal. What should I do?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

First, you should consult a physician, as it might be infected, like breast nodes (mastitis). In such cases, antibiotics are prescribed. Meanwhile, keep good local hygiene. Do not squeeze that node. Apply alternating warm and cold compresses. I wish fast recovery.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
