Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am an 18-year-old female, and I found a lump in my breast about a year ago. It is not getting bigger or smaller and does not hurt or move. However, I sometimes have back and chest pain, and it is hard to breathe. Also, I get dizzy if I stand up for a long time and have fluid in my left foot. Am I too young to have breast cancer, right? Is there anything else it could be?
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
You are right. At this young age chance of cancer are less. Kindly mention the size of your lump to discuss further. I suggest you first investigate with a USG (ultrasound) scan for breast lump and then FNAC (fine needle aspiration cytology) to rule out the nature of the lesion. For dizziness, investigate with CBC (complete blood count) to rule out anemia. In addition, an otoscopy ear examination can be done to rule out otological causes like labyrinthitis. Check blood sugar levels as well to rule out hypoglycemia. You also have fluid in the leg, for which a X-ray must be done first. Then further investigation should be done as needed, like serum protein estimation, serum TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) estimation, urea, creatinine, etc. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further. Thank you.
