Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 24-year-old female, height 161 cm and weight 48 kg. Usually, a week before my period, my breasts are tender and swollen, which I know is normal. However, a couple of months ago, that stopped. I get my period, and I still have the regular belly cramps that I usually get, but my breasts do not hurt at all and are not swollen. I have been fighting acne that appeared spontaneously, and I thought that was over, but two weeks ago, the pimples started again. Are the two things related, or what might be the reason that my breasts do not hurt anymore?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

The menstrual cycle is completely controlled by hormones, and every woman can feel pre-menstrual symptoms differently. Acne also has a hormonal effect and is genetically related as well. It might be possible that different hormonal and inflammatory mediators ratios changed recently, which enhances acne and reduces breast tenderness. Suppose cycles become irregular, and you observe abnormal hair growth. In that case, you need to do hormonal tests like serum testosterone, progesterone, insulin, prolactin, FSH (follicle stimulating hormone), LH (luteinizing hormone), and thyroid on day two of periods to check which treatment you need. Progesterone or estrogen both cause breast engorgement. It is not necessary that you have all premenstrual symptoms. Have herbal treatment for the skin like a mud mask.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
