Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 18 years old female and have irregular breathing. I am allergic to wheat, egg, and fish. I have had eczema since I was a child. I do have anxiety, hay fever, and dust flu so my nose is constantly blocked, so I breathe from my mouth. At times I can not talk because I would need to breathe. I become breathless and I wheeze a lot. I have been tested for asthma but the results were negative. I find it difficult to breathe when I lie down. I have a tightness around my chest which is very uncomfortable. I receive no medication for my condition which affects me daily. What could be the reason?

Kindly help.

Hello,

I appreciate you signing up on icliniq.

You now have exclusive access to expert medical opinion.

You have an allergy to multiple allergens. Your symptoms are predominantly because of allergic rhinitis and allergic or hyperreactive airway disease. It is a type of asthma only. Asthma tests will not be positive always, they are if you are having symptoms while testing, as it is episodic in nature. Treatment is certainly, to try to protect from all these agents. You will also need antiallergic medicine. You can take Montair-LC at bedtime once a day, this is to be continued till the allergy is under control. Also, you should inhalers like Albuterol 2 puffs whenever you are having shortness of breath and Budecort 2 puff twice a day on a routine. If your nasal symptoms are still persistent then you will also need Fluticasone nasal spray to be used twice a day for a couple of weeks. For stuffiness of the nose, you can use Xylometazoline nasal drops whenever needed up to two times a day. But Xylometazoline nasal drops should be used as less as possible and continues use for more than a week should be avoided. I think your symptoms should get under control with this medicine. You should also try using yoga, it will be helpful.

I hope this helps you. Thank you.
