What is the treatment for yellow itchy bruise on the areola?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 21-year-old female, 170 cm tall and weighing 168 lbs. I have a yellow bruise on the top of my areola, which I noticed over two weeks ago. Since then, my whole breast has been itching continuously, and it has not stopped. There is no discharge or pain, and I have not injured the area. I am unsure where the bruise came from, but the itching is unbearable and persistent.

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and can understand your concern.

A bruise is due to tissue bleeding and is usually bluish or bluish-red. It is never yellow. Moreover, a bruise is never itchy. Therefore the condition that you have is not a bruise, and it is something else. I would keep a possibility of either eczematous dermatitis, tinea, or fungal infection. I require a picture for a confirmatory diagnosis. Both of these conditions are itchy. I would be able to help you better if you can upload a digital image of the affected area.

I hope this helps.

Let me know if you need any further clarification.

Thank you.
