Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have a small lump that seems to be in my urethra that is only noticeable when I have an erection. When I do not have an erection, I cannot feel it at all. It is about the size of half a pea, and it feels like a tiny stone.
I first noticed it about a year ago. I do not think it has grown since then, and I do not have any other symptoms. No pain, no blood, or no obstructed urine. I do have two epididymal cysts on my testicles, but I got them seen by two different doctors, and they said they were fine. I suffer from brain fog, but I do not think that it is connected.
My question is, could this be something serious? What course of action should I take? Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
According to your statement, you have a small bump in the urethra that can be noticeable and feelable when you have an erection. It is common to develop small lumps on the frenulum of the urethra of the penis. They rarely cause any problems.
Penile warts are a possibility, although you get more than one, and they are quite characteristic, looking like a tiny cauliflower. There may be nothing wrong with your urethra at all. Again, it may be Cowper's duct cyst. These pea-shaped glands, like you, make a clear, colorless fluid before ejaculation. This fluid cleans the urethra and neutralizes acid to protect the sperm. It also provides a small amount of lubrication for sex.
Cowper's duct cysts occur due to abnormal narrowing at the opening into the urethra. Bump in the urethra due to any causes that are mentioned above do not need any treatment and will dissolve normally. If any complications occur like retention of urine, burning sensation, hematuria, etc, only then it needs treatment.
I hope this helps.
Kindly revert so I can assist you further.
Thank you.
