What are the reasons for burning sensation and swelling in the stomach?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have a burning sensation and swelling in my stomach when I eat fried and fatty food or sweets. I also have a history of chronic constipation for the past five years and I have been on Risek.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Thank you for your query.
I reviewed your query. You may have gallstones, gallbladder sludge, or your gallbladder function may be impaired, often misdiagnosed as acidity. I suggest you to get an abdomen ultrasound with four hours of fasting and upload the results for further management.
In the case of routine ultrasound, the second scenario is that you might be suffering from gastritis. This recurring problem aggravates when you consume food that is not included in your diet. It usually takes a long time to settle with medicine and diet modification. I suggest you to follow the instructions mentioned below.
- Take capsule Risek (Omeprazole, Proton pump inhibitor, and Sodium Bicarbonate) 40 mg once daily.
- Take syrup Mucaine (antacid) two tablespoons 45 minutes after each meal thrice a day for 14 days.
- Take the tablet Motilium (Domperidone) 10 mg thrice a day for three days before meals and whenever you feel bloated or in case of indigestion. Kindly consult a specialist, talk to them and take the medications with their consent.
- Avoid oily, spicy, and high-sugar foods and vegetables like cauliflower, kale, broccoli, etc.
I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
