Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My upper tooth has broken and fell off about an hour ago. I do not have pain or bleeding. A small portion of the tooth is still in my mouth as I can feel a rough surface. I am currently using tablet Lisinopril, tablet Lipitor, eye drops for glaucoma, and calcium and vitamin D supplements.

Kindly advise.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. Your teeth can break either due to decay or trauma. Even though you do not have any symptoms, you need to get treated immediately to prevent an injury to your tongue or surrounding structures due to the sharp edges. I suggest you get a dental X-ray to decide on a further treatment plan.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.

The Probable causes

The probable cause is decay or trauma.

Investigations to be done

I suggest an IOPA (intraoral periapical radiograph).

Treatment plan

I suggest coronoplasty and restoration.

Regarding follow up

I suggest a follow-up with a dental X-ray.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the response.

Is it fine to delay my treatment for a few days?

Kindly suggest.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

There is no need to worry. However, you must be careful that the sharp edge does not prick the surrounding area. I suggest you avoid very hot and very cold and sticky foods. Also, avoid chewing in that area. Keep the area clean, gargle with lukewarm salt water after every meal, and use a mouth wash.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
