Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

A part of my tooth was broken in an accident, and it has not been causing any pain. However, it has been ten years since the accident occurred. I visited a nearby dentist who took an X-ray of the tooth. He pointed out a black spot at the root tip of the broken tooth and recommended a root canal to fix it. Should I proceed with the root canal procedure?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Your dentist is correct; root canal treatment should be performed. During the accident, the tooth nerve died due to the trauma, so you are not experiencing any pain. However, it is not advisable to leave a dead object in our body. The best course of action is to treat the tooth and clean the nerve area to prevent future issues.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.

Regards.
