Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am a 24-year-old male with a height 6 of 2" and a weight of 189 pounds. I have been experiencing itching after taking a bath, mainly on the legs, and I am not taking any medications. Is it fine?
Kindly guide.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern. As per the history provided, the condition may be cholinergic urticaria. It is a condition where rashes and itching appear for a few hours following a shower due to temperature changes pre- and post-shower. It is a hypersensitivity reaction that may start developing at any age. It may appear on and off and can be managed with medications. I would suggest the following medications. Tablet Fexofenadine 180 mg: one tablet to be taken at night, one hour before sleep. It can be taken for two weeks. And as and when symptoms appear. Hydrocortisone cream 1 % may be applied in case of uncontrollable itching or redness. Apply once a day only, and do not use the cream for more than two weeks.
I remain at your disposal for any further questions whenever you need.
Thank you.
