Clotting Time

Clotting time is the time taken for the in vitro coagulation of a blood sample under normal conditions. Several methods can determine clotting time, but the capillary tube method is the most recommended. The average clotting time is between 2 to 8 minutes. Prolonged clotting time is seen in conditions like hemophilia, disseminated intravascular coagulation, Von Willebrand's disease, thrombocytopenia, hypoprothrombinemia, etc.
