Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 56-year-old male and have had a chest cold in the winter. I started to have a strange feeling in my chest. When I breathe fully in and out, I get a twinge in the center, and it feels hollow. I can feel my heart beat strongly in the middle of my chest and at the front of my neck. I am not on any medications. Kindly suggest.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concerns. Stabbing chest pain after a common cold is due to pleurisy, inflammation of the pleura, the membrane that covers the lungs. I suggest you take the tablet Ibuprofen 400 mg. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with them and take medications with their consent. Feeling of strong heartbeats could be due to elevated blood pressure. I suggest checking your blood pressure. Other possible causes are anemia or musculoskeletal pain. Have you performed any investigations like chest X-rays or complete blood count (CBC)? I hope this helps you.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
