Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My 9-year-old daughter is suffering from fever and headache for the past three days. Since yesterday her fever has gone down, but she has intermittent lower abdominal pain. When the pain comes, it makes her cry. I have tried giving her water, liquid food, and massaging her tummy with castor oil, but the pain persists. What would be causing this pain? She has started eating solid food today and some fruit and liquids. The pain still comes and goes about every ten minutes. What can be done to get rid of this pain? Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to iliniq.com.

I have read your query, and I can understand your concern.

  1. Where is the pain located??

  2. Any history of loose motion, vomiting, constipation, or urinary complaints?

  3. Any history of passing yellow urine? How is her sleep?

  4. Any history of consumption of food cooked outside the house?

Please provide further details so that I can help you. Please revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

She has pain around the belly button and lower belly and has passed some loose stools. She seems to be constipated since yesterday. No yellow urine or vomiting was noticed. She sometimes wakes at night with the pain. She did not eat any food cooked outside the house except for some chocolate cake five days back.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have read your query, and I can understand your concern.

Constipation can cause pain. How is she feeling now after passing motion? Has the pain gone? Give plenty of water, but avoid toast or biscuits. We must investigate if the child wakes up at night with abdominal pain. Look for loose stools and pain for one more hour, else will send you a prescription for the same.

I hope this information helps you. Please revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.
