What does contact dermatitis look like on a child?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My son has had skin rashes on his face for the past three weeks. It appears like ringworm and has spread to the cheeks with discoloration. I have attached the images. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

From the images attached (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity), it does not look like ringworm. It seems like dermatitis. I suggest (consult with a specialist doctor, talk with him or her and take medicines with their consent) your child syrup Allegra (Fexofenadine) 1.5 ml twice daily for three days. Then, apply Sebamed (Avobenzone and Octocrylene) baby lotion to your child's face. Consult a dermatologist for examination.
