Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I took an i-pill (emergency contraceptive pill), and I vomited immediately. However, I was feeling weak before taking the pill. I slept, and in the morning, I was fine. But in the late-night, I read online that if I had vomited within two hours of consuming the pill, it would be ineffective, and I needed to take one more. What should I do? Should I take one more? Please guide.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I fully understand your concern. Yes, you are right, and I agree that ideally, the medicine is effective when it stays inside for more than two hours. So you should ideally take one more dose to keep yourself safe from unplanned pregnancy. Just for your information, I want to tell you that be prepared for specific side effects like nausea, fatigue, slight bleeding and spotting within ten days of taking the dose. Also, please share your health history if you have any artery or heart-related issues. In that case, I suggest not taking the medicine. I hope this helps.

Thank you.
