Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My son has corn and calluses in his left leg under his foot, which is very painful at times. He is 14 years old.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The skin on the feet appears hard, rough, and dry. There is a localized thickening of the skin over sites of repeated trauma and pressure. Predisposing factors are prolonged pressure, friction, ill-fitting shoes. Use Topisal 3 percent ointment at night for ten days, Moisturex soft cream twice daily for 20 days and Fucidin cream at daytime for seven days. Wear comfortable shoes. Avoid ill-fitting shoes. Do you have pain on walking or oozing?

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Pain is there while walking, but there is no oozing. He is not wearing any shoes or foot accessories for eight months. Symptoms started before eight months, and we started using Timodore, and the discoloration around the infected area is due to the application of the medicine. There is no improvement with Timodore instead, another one is now showing up near this. The skin around the infected area is hardened. Will the corn get removed by itself after applying these medicines or other procedures are there?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

3 percent Salicylic acid and 0.05 percent Clobetasol (steroid) is the composition of Topisal ointment. Diffuse area of thickened skin (indefinite border) in areas of repeated friction. A procedure like paring, softening the area with 40 percent salicylic acid dressing under occlusion for 48 hours, the corn/callosity is gently pared with a scalpel blade. Repeated dressing and paring if required. Use Moisturex soft cream twice daily or U lac cream for 20 days. Proper care or hygiene of foot should be taken care of. In the case of very painful corn, a small amount of intralesional steroid under it can relieve the pain.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
