Can cortisone help if taken before transferring an embryo?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I would like to know, can Cortisone help if taken before transferring an embryo? And if it can help so, in which way?

Answered by Dr. Neha Rathod

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Yes, Cortisone can increase the chance of getting pregnant. It decreases ACTH production (adrenocorticotropic hormone) and increases pituitary gonadotropin release, thereby increasing the chance of pregnancy. If you have a doubt then get back to me.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Which is better to use in the embryo transfer protocol, Progesterone pills or injections? What do you usually prescribe?

Answered by Dr. Neha Rathod

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Progesterone pills are better to use because progesterone injections are a bit painful.
