Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I had tuberculosis (TB) ten years ago and took medication for six months. And recently, when I coughed, there was blood. What could be the reason for this? I do not have a cough right now. It is just that I felt there was something on my chest or throat that I coughed out.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
The cough could be because of various causes. First, I suggest you rule out the reactivation of TB (tuberculosis) by getting a chest X-ray and sputum test. Then rule out any bleeding and inflammation in the gums. Is there any history of recurrent sore throat, smoking, and alcohol abuse? If everything is normal and a one-time cough, then nothing to worry about. Otherwise, it needs proper evaluation.
I hope my answer helps.
Thank you.
