Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
For the entire day, my cough did not stop for a while. I do not know what to do. I did take some traditional medicine, and it did temporarily stop my coughs. However, the cough has started again now. I cannot sleep at all. My cough started when I had a fever four days ago. When my fever started, I also started to have a sore throat. My fever gradually improved, and I am still around 100.4 degree Farenheit. However, today I noticed I started coughing more and more, and now at night, my coughs have become quite frequent, and I cannot sleep. Every time I cough, my stomach just forces me to stay awake. For my sore throat, swallowing is a bit of a problem. I feel a lot of pain every time I swallow, so I have been eating more mushy food for the past four days. Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern. Nowadays, colds with sore throat and fever are common that might indicate viral infection, most probably COVID. If vaccinated, the fever may subside within three to four days. As 100.4 degree Farenheit is fever, I suggest you take a tablet of Acetaminophen or Paracetamol for fever for rise of temperature every six hours. Do warm saline gargle or Betadine 2 % gargle twice daily for sore throat. For cough best home remedy is dried ginger and black pepper pulp. Drink plenty of lukewarm water and take rest and proper sleep as sleeping is the best cure. I hope this helps.
Thank you.
