Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Yesterday, my wife went to a beauty parlor being run in a flat in a housing society. She got eyebrow trimming done by a lady. Later that lady informed my wife that her son has returned from a far country four to five days back. He was screened at the airport and advised to be in isolation at home for 14 to 15 days as per guidelines.

Both the lady and her son have had no symptoms until now, but her son is not following the isolation procedure entirely, and his mother is not maintaining a safe distance from him.

My wife got a little worried, so to be safe, she did not come home. We have another flat in the same society; she stayed there for the night and is still there. We are in touch with that family.

We have two children aged 8 years and 14 years; my wife says it is better to stay away from them in our second flat for some time. I suggest that she remains at home confined to a room, maintaining a safe distance from children.

Since that lady or her son has no symptoms, the chances of Coronavirus transmission from them are meager.

Please guide what steps we should take. Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The chances of transmission of Coronavirus are there to the wife in the current described scenario. I suppose seven days have elapsed since her son returned from the far country. So seven days are still left. Your wife should stay in another flat only in my opinion, for the next five days. Keep in constant touch with the parlor lady if she or her son has developed any symptoms. I hope it helps you. If you have any further questions, please ask me.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you so much for your reply.

As advised by you, my wife is staying in a separate flat for the last four days, now completing five days tomorrow. We are in regular touch with the parlor lady and her son; both are fine to date. RWA of our society made her son report to the local CMO for advice. CMO advised him to be in isolation for another five to six days completing the prescribed 14 days period. Since he has no symptoms, no tests were done. Can my wife come back to our house tomorrow? She can continue her quarantine by living in a separate room with all precautions. Can the Coronavirus be transmitted by a person who is in the incubation period?

Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I am glad to know that all are asymptomatic. But I suppose your wife should stay in another flat till the parlor guys' quarantine period is over that is two weeks. This is because a few percentages of people show symptoms even on the last days of quarantine. So act wisely; the next two to three days more, she should stay in another flat. I hope it helps you. If you have any further questions, please ask me.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

The parlor lady and her son are still doing fine with no symptoms. I saw his airport screening document. Now his 14 days isolation period ends in another four to five days. My wife is finding it challenging to stay in another flat since it is empty and corner flat. She does not have adequate sleep there. I have to go there to give food and other things daily, maintaining a safe distance. Can she come home and live in a separate room with all the precautions for the next four to five days? Living in a separate flat is causing distress to her. Please guide.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. You can ask your wife to come back home as the chances of infection are low in this case scenario. However, I would recommend her to stay in a single room in your central flat and wear a mask at home. Maintain a safe distance at home also for a few more days.

I wish you good luck.
