Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I had a blood test, and my CPK was elevated. What does this signify, and what is the treatment? Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
CPK (creatine phosphokinase) can be high from various underlying health conditions like muscle diseases, and brain diseases such as stroke, convulsions, lung diseases, myocarditis, heart attack, electric shock, and many more. Some drugs can raise CPK levels like lipid-lowering agents like Statins, Dexamethasone, anesthetic drugs, and antifungals like Amphotericin B. Thus, it is important to pay attention to the clinical symptoms of diseases including muscle discomfort, weakness or cramps, imbalance, and dark urine associated with high CPK. If not, it is not significant. If you exhibit any of the clinical characteristics listed above, I suggest getting a CPK test from two different laboratories. You should let your doctor know if the CPK level rises so they can take additional action. It is challenging to cure your high CPK level without understanding the exact causes. If you have no clinical symptoms, just monitor your health, do a CPK test a month later, and take any other necessary actions to see the results.
I hope I have answered your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards.
