Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had an abortion last year. Ever since then, my discharge has been abnormal. My vagina tends to be painful during intercourse, and I experience abdominal cramps whenever I have sex. Additionally, I sometimes have episodes of bleeding. In the second month of this year, I started using family planning methods and subsequently missed my periods for two months. I intended to visit the clinic previous month but missed the appointment. As a result, I discontinued using the family planning method. I would like to understand what might be causing these issues. Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have reviewed your case, and I understand your concern.

Based on your description, it appears to be an infection, which is common after an abortion. To determine the exact cause and provide appropriate treatment, I recommend undergoing a pap smear and vaginal swab test. These tests will help identify the specific infection and allow for the initiation of proper antibiotic therapy.

Since you are also experiencing irregular periods, I suggest you undergo a pelvic ultrasound scan (USG), a thyroid profile test, and a complete blood count (CBC) to rule out any underlying pathologies.

I hope this information is helpful. Please feel free to ask any further questions.

Regards.
