Hello,

Two years back, I had a crown cutting done. Now, the gums in that area are swollen, and I feel pain. The cap was placed last year, and no proper bite was registered. I want your second opinion on this dental issue. Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

I saw the orthopantomogram (OPG) attached (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity). I will help you solve the doubt.

I can see that the root canal treatment is done in your front teeth. I need to verify if you have any issues with that root canal treatment. I also need a clear picture of the orthopantomogram.

Usually, after crown cutting, the crown has to be placed immediately. However, if it takes time to place the crown, then a temporary crown has to be placed until fixed crowns are placed. If temporary crowns are not placed, the gap between the teeth and alveolar bone changes gradually, and the crown will not fit.

In that case, you can smooth the crown cutting again, take a new impression, place a temporary crown, and then replace it with a permanent crown. Of course, the whole procedure needs to be repeated.

I request you to follow up with a clear front teeth orthopantomogram.

Thank you.

The Probable causes:

A temporary crown was not placed on the prepared tooth.

Investigations to be done:

Orthopantamogram (OPG).

Differential diagnosis:

Improper root canal treatment.

Probable diagnosis:

Ill-fitting crown.

Treatment plan:

Repeat crown cutting

and crown fixation process.
