Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have facial twitching on my left eye and right cheek, which developed within the past 30 days. I had a CT scan of the brain to rule out any abnormalities. Can you please explain my report.

Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

I have reviewed the CT (computed tomography) brain scan in detail (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity).

1. The cerebral hemispheres, brainstem, and cerebellum demonstrate normal attenuation without focal abnormality.

2. The basal ganglia, internal capsule, corpus callosum, and thalamus appear normal.

3. There is no abnormal parenchymal or dural enhancement.

4. The cerebral ventricles are normal.

5. The cisternal spaces appear normal.

6. The interhemispheric fissure is centered on the midline.

7. Sella and pituitary are normal.

8. Parasellar structures are unremarkable. There are no abnormalities in the cerebellopontine angle areas on both sides.

9. The paranasal sinuses and mastoid air cells are normally developed, clear and pneumatized. The orbital contents are unremarkable.

10. There are no abnormalities in the calvarium.

Your CT brain scan is normal. If the symptoms persist, you might need to get an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) brain scan focusing on cranial nerve imaging after getting a detailed clinical examination done.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

There was a white spot on the thalamus area. Is that normal? It did not show up on an MRI conducted a few years back.

Thank you.

Answered by Dr. Vivek Chail

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

There is no white area in the thalamus, and you might be referring to a white structure superior to the left thalamus, choroid plexus calcification in the left lateral ventricle. Please upload an image with a marking on the white area if you need to discuss it in detail and double-confirm the finding.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

There are white masses in images 15 and 16. Can you please provide more information regarding them or possible diagnosis or follow-ups? Also, the sizing of those.

Thank you.

Answered by Dr. Vivek Chail

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The white areas in images 15 and 16 are choroid plexus calcification in the bilateral lateral ventricles and are normal findings. It has no clinical significance and does not need any follow-up.

Thank you.
