Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had my period six weeks back and had intercourse four days after that with condoms. I was not sure so I took I-pill the next day and again started bleeding after one week for three days. I did not get my period yet, do I still need to worry about pregnancy? I did a urine pregnancy test today at home and it is negative.

Since I was worried due to this, I went to my local gynecologist and she suggested I get USG (ultrasound) pelvis scan done.

Please help me, I am really worried.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

The chances of pregnancy are null, simply because you had your withdrawal bleed post an I-pill intake. As you were not sexually active last month, pregnancy due to the episode six weeks ago is unlikely.

The next period can be expected after five days as they can be delayed by 10 to 15 days as this is a known side effect of an I-pill.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Also, I have heard of something called ectopic pregnancy. Do I need to worry about that?

Thank you.

Answered by Dr. Sameer Kumar

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

If you were pregnant with an ectopic pregnancy then your urine pregnancy test would have come positive. It is not so in your case.

No need to worry about that.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Also in that USG, there were fibroids. Is that a serious concern as of now?

Thank you.

Answered by Dr. Sameer Kumar

Hi,

If there were fibroids then they are a concern for future but not as of now as your prime concern here today is if you are pregnant or not.

Thank you.
