Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I took a period delay pill which I stopped taking four days ago. Last night I started bleeding again. However, it is very light and dark brown. It cannot even fill a pad.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.

I am glad you chose icliniq for your medical-related queries.

I understand your concern and will try to help you with it.

It is common to experience changes in your menstrual cycle after taking period delay pills. The light, dark brown bleeding you are currently experiencing could be withdrawal bleeding or breakthrough bleeding as your body adjusts after stopping the pill. Withdrawal bleeding is a type of bleeding that can occur when you stop taking hormonal birth control pills, including period delay pills. It is a response to the sudden drop in hormone levels. Breakthrough bleeding, on the other hand, refers to lighter, irregular bleeding that can occur during the course of taking hormonal contraceptives. In your case, the light and dark brown bleeding that cannot fill a pad may be considered normal.
