Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 25-year-old female, and I had regular periods with menstrual bleeding for three to four days. However, my menstrual cycle has not been regular for the past few months. I got married two months back, and the next month, I had a delayed period and consulted a gynecologist. As per the gynecologist's suggestion, I took Meprate 10 mg and got my periods. Unfortunately, I had too much stress over the past few months.

What could be the reason for delayed periods? Is there anything to worry about?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

The menstrual rhythm depends on your pituitary gland situated inside the brain. The pitutary gland secrets hormones which regulate the time and duration of menstruation. Because of stress, inadequate sleep, and heavy exertion, the hormonal balance might get disturbed. No need to worry about it.

Consult a specialist doctor, and take the following medications with their consent.

1. Tablet Deviry (Medroxyprogesterone) 5 mg twice daily, for five days.

2. After getting the periods, start tablet Ovaral L (Ethinylestradiol and Levonorgestrel) once daily for 21 days.

You can report back after completing the Ovaral L tablets.

I hope I was helpful.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your response.

Is it too early for a hormonal correction? Can I wait till the next period before starting the medication?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, you can wait till the next period before starting the medication. If it is normal, then no need for medication. Otherwise, you need drugs to correct hormonal imbalances.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
