Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have been trying to conceive for the past few months but have still been unsuccessful. I have a dermoid cyst in my right ovary. Next month, I want to prepone or postpone my periods with medicine. I want to know if the medicine will affect my efforts to conceive or if there are any other major side effects.
Please help me.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I went through your query and understood your concern.
However, I have a few questions,
1. Have you undergone a detailed ultrasound scan?
2. How big the dermoid cyst is?
Drugs that are used to delay periods are hormones and can show temporary side effects like mood variations, breast heaviness, unscheduled bleeding, heavy periods, etc. Therefore it is better to evaluate the dermoid cyst, its size and location, etc. I suggest you have a balanced diet with daily yoga and try to maintain a balanced BMI (body mass index). I also suggest you take a tablet of Folic acid at 0.4 milligrams daily. Try having sex in the fertile period of the cycle. I also suggest you remove recreational drugs from your life and your partner's life as these increases the chances of infertility and give congenital anomalies to the baby. Taking pills temporarily for delaying periods will have temporary effects on menstrual regularity and can cause unscheduled spotting.
I hope this has helped you.
Kindly consult a specialist, talk with them, and take medicines with their consent.
Thanks and regards.
