How to manage bad indentation on the tongue from the wire connected to the molar bands?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I got a wire on the roof of my mouth that connected to molar bands, and I have a bad indentation on my tongue from it, and it looks like it is going to bleed soon. Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Sometimes during mastication, the wires around the molar band get extruded and flared. Usually, they are blunt, but sometimes they can cause trauma. I suggest you, please get it folded or cut so that it remains disconnected from the tongue. If not possible, please have a gauge piece and apply it with pressure so that it goes inside (towards the tooth). Thank you.
