Should I be concerned about the dark spot around my implant?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Six months back, I had basal implants on the posterior area of my lower jaw after removing the wisdom tooth. There is a dark spot surrounding the implant with a mild suction-like sensation near the cheek. Should I be concerned?

Please advise.

Hi,

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for the reply,

Is it normal to have such spots inside the mouth because of dentures or implants?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

No, it is not normal. Hyperpigmentation is not related to implants, dentures, or bridges. It may be due to a bruise, cut, local trauma, or forceful biting. How long has it been present?

Consult a dentist for a physical examination if the suction-like sensation lasts for more than two weeks.

Kind regards.
