How to treat swollen gums and discolored teeth from trauma?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I want some advice about my 11-months-old son. He has four top teeth cutting through and fell face first on the grass yesterday and has hurt his lip, and his gums are swollen and teeth discolored since that time. Can you advise me on what to do for the best?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Your baby fell on his mouth means trauma occurred, and tooth discolored means at the tip of the tooth. In that case, infection occurs due to trauma from the fall. So you need to consult a pedodontist immediately. Swelling on the lips and gum is inflammation that will settle down. Still, the baby is only 11-months-old, so you need to consult a pedodontist and, if required, take antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs.

I hope this has helped you. Please feel free to reach me again, in case of further queries.

Thank you.
