How can a 20-year-old cope with depression after breakup?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 20-year-old female. I was in a relationship with one of my classmates. However, I started feeling depressed after my breakup with him. Now I have anxiety, disturbed sleep, and emotional instability. I constantly worry about my future. Please help me.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Sometimes you do not have control over the situations and what others do but what matters is how you cope with it. The following steps can help you: Practice relaxation techniques daily, as it will help you relax and focus. Share your feelings with family and close friends, as sharing helps a lot. Give at least one hour daily for your hobbies to vent out your daily stress. Consult a psychiatrist in person for evaluation and treatment if needed.

Thank you.
