Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have started taking Pristiq 50 mg per day for anxiety issues, and it has shown no effectiveness yet. Does it take a longer time to work?

Answered by Dr. Ashok Kumar

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

Our last consultation was around 13 days back, and I hope that you started taking Pristiq (Desvenlafaxine). It takes around two to three weeks to start working, as I told you during our online consultation. At three weeks of time, if you do not feel any improvement, we can increase the dose to 100 mg once a day. What I mean is that if you do not observe any improvement, then increase the dose to 100 mg, but if you find more than 50 % improvement within three weeks, then continue the same 50 mg dose. Other than this, I like to remind you of the exercise regimen to continue.

If you have any other questions, feel free to write to me.

Thanks.
