How to manage diabetes fatigue and sleepiness in men?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 52-year-old male who has been dealing with diabetes for about three years now. Lately, I have been hit with excessive daytime sleepiness and fatigue. It is like I can barely keep my eyes open at work, and my performance is taking a nosedive. I have to watch what I eat, stay on top of my medicines, and deal with all sorts of ups and downs in my blood sugar levels. But this whole tiredness thing is a whole new level of frustration. I have tried getting more sleep at night, but nothing seems to shake off this exhaustion. Now I have started feeling like a real burden, not just on me but on my work and personal life too. Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
I would suggest you better go for an evening brisk walking daily till you sweat. Then come home and have a bath in cold water better if not warm water. After this, you will get a nice sleep, and avoid daytime sleep.
What about your blood sugar levels? When you are drowsy check your blood sugar level, and according to that adjust the medication. If still you are unable to sleep at night, take the tablet Alprox (Alprazolam) 0.5 mg at night, for some time.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
