Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I had my first operation for the removal of uterus about 13 years back, and six years later, one ovary was removed. I am suffering from a cervical problem since 20 years, high BP since 10 years and diabetes since nine months. I am taking the following medicines: Pregabalin cap 75 mg per day, Telma-H 40 mg, Meta XL 25 mg per day, Atorvastatin 10 mg and Stanlip 160 mg, and Clopidogrel 75 mg for BP. For diabetes, I take Zita plus (Teneligliptin) 20 mg two times per day. I take Shelcal-OS 500 mg per day for three months, then after a gap of three months, it is to be repeated. Kindly advice me for diabetes. Also, how are my kidneys, liver, etc.

Patient's Query
Thank you doctor,
Attached herewith are the lab reports.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I have gone through your reports (attachment removed to protect patient identity). A HbA1c value of 7 is really good. We have to now focus on getting it between 6 to 7 and maintain it at that. That will ensure fewer fluctuations in your blood sugar and will protect you from the complications of diabetes. Your kidney function is fine. You need not worry about it. Drink plenty of water, at least 3 to 4 liters every day. The mild decrease in function is considering your age and other diseases. There is nothing to be worried about. Your other reports are also fine. For mildly decreased iron levels, you can increase the intake of iron-rich food in your diet (apples, leafy vegetables, black raisins, etc). Please continue all your medications as you are taking them. For diabetes, I would like to add another medicine to get the mean glucose level down. But, before I do that, I would want to see the reports of two tests: Fasting blood sugar and Postprandial blood sugar (two hours later). Also, please do follow a strict diabetic and hypertensive diet and exercise regularly. Regards.
