Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have recently been diagnosed with diabetes, and I am curious about the potential impact on my foot health. Can you offer personalized insights into the signs and symptoms of diabetic foot ulcers, and what immediate steps I should take if I notice any changes or issues, considering my overall health and medical history? Kindly help me understand diabetic foot ulcers in detail.

Thank you.

Hi,

We will pay close attention to your worries and address all your questions with utmost care.

Due to peripheral neuropathy (a condition characterized by weakness and numbness in the foot and hands, usually caused by elevated blood sugar levels) in diabetes, there are reduced sensations like numbness and tingling in the foot, which can lead to foot injury without much knowledge and can cause ulcers. In diabetes, healing is reduced, so, the ulcer can take time to heal. I suggest you do the following:

1. Always check your foot daily for any injuries.

2. Wear protective footwear like diabetic footwear which is customized as per foot size, to prevent any injuries.

3. In case of any injury, consult a doctor for urgent treatment.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
