I vomit after eating. Could it be a gastrointestinal infection?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been suffering from diarrhea and fever for the past two days. I vomit immediately as soon I eat something.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query.

I understand your concern. You can have a viral or bacterial gastroenteritis-like problem. I suggest you to follow a few things mentioned below.

  1. Investigate with stool routine micro examination and blood test. If the stool report is abnormal and no improvement then an antibiotic course can be suggested.
  2. Take antacids like Pantoprazole and antiemetic drug like Domperidone.
  3. Eat a soft and bland diet.
  4. Avoid excess spicy foods and fatty meals.
  5. Drink more water to maintain hydration.

Kindly consult a specialist, talk to them and take medications with their consent.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
