Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a college fresher. I had diarrhea a week ago, so I took medications and got it cured. Unfortunately, it has been two days since my medications are over, and my wet farts have returned. I also feel nauseous again.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Considering you are a college student, do you have a history of eating out frequently? My assessment is partially treated with infective gastroenteritis or post-infection IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). First, you should take care of your diet, avoid eating out, have unusual meals for a few days, and take a soft diet, preferably home-cooked. Secondly, you can use commercially available probiotics, or I recommend taking yogurt (naturally occurring probiotics) daily for 2 to 4 weeks.

Thirdly, you can use antacid syrup Gaviscon (Aluminum Hydroxide and Magnesium Trisilicate) after every meal and tablet Domperidone (Adzole-DM) 10 mg as per need for your nausea. Finally, if you feel abdominal cramps, anti-spasmodic tablets like tablet No-spa (Dicyclomine 20 mg and Mefenamic Acid 250 mg) or tablet Colofac (Mebeverine) 135 mg can be used as needed. Also, do not use antibiotics again and again. You must recheck your stool report for reinfections if your symptoms are persistent.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
