Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I use Lexapro, an antidepressant, and have been using birth control for five months now. I have had an upset stomach and diarrhea on and off since last week. It only happens in the morning after breakfast and coffee once a day. I went on a bland diet, and it stopped this week. I am just curious if this seems like a virus or something serious.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Thanks for writing in, and I understand your concern. I went through your concern about stomach upset and diarrhea. I would like to know more details about your present symptoms. Do you have a fever? Or any other associated symptoms like body aches, headache, nausea, vomiting, and generalized weakness? Have you done any investigations recently? Do you frequently get gastritis or acidity? Your symptoms seem to be due to indigestion and outside food that could have caused some infection. You need not worry. Your symptoms might not be due to any major issue. Kindly get back with the above details for further discussion and management.
Regards.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for your response.
I do not have any fever or chills. I did have a minor cold this week. And I do not experience gastritis frequently. But to mention this, I checked it online, which made me even more anxious. Please do suggest me on this.
Regards.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
If these symptoms are only recent and have not been there for a long time, you need not worry. It could be just an acute gastroenteritis. Avoid taking any dairy products and spicy and oily food. All these precipitates the symptoms. Online details gives you general information and is not patient-specific. Every disease has a different presentation, and it varies from person to person. Just take oral rehydration (ORS) solution with water and increase the intake of oral fluids and juices. I would suggest you, continue to have bland diet for seven more days and see the after-effects. Take tablet Sporolac (Lactobacillus) twice a day for five days.
You can get back in case you continue to have symptoms.
Regards.
