What could cause loose motion in a 6-day-old baby?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My baby is 6 days old and he has been suffering from loose motion since today. Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Basically, if it is watery loose motion, either it is viral induced or milk intolerance. In a 6-day-old baby, if mother's milk is exclusively given, not to worry about it as it can stimulate loose motion. You have to worry only when the baby becomes weak, dehydrated and starts vomiting.

I hope that you get your answer.

Please let me know if you need any help.

Thank you.
