Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I was told I have arrhythmia but wanted a second opinion. I have had chest pain and intermittent dizziness for over two years now. And I took EKG for dizziness recently. I am currently taking Truvada, Doxycycline, and Librium. Does my EKG indicate Brugada? Please give me your suggestions.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern. It is suspected you may have an arrhythmia, but it is not a typical pattern (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). Do you have any other symptoms or a family history of arrhythmia? However, I suggest you to get a modified ECG (electrocardiogram) done by placing V1 and V2 electrodes two spaces higher. Or get an ajmaline provocation test done. I hope this has helped you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for your reply. The answers to your questions are, the symptoms, intermittent chest pain and dizziness, were evaluated by a cardiologist two years ago, and he told me everything looks normal other than occasional PVC. There is no immediate family history, but there were three sudden deaths on my maternal grandfather's side, two cousins and one uncle. What should I do next? Please suggest.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The symptoms of Brugada syndrome are syncope and cardiac arrest. And your ECG (electrocardiogram) pattern is not typical of Brugada syndrome type 1; it is also asymptomatic (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). So you need not worry about it. The least we can do is to perform an ajmaline challenge test in a hospital to unmask Brugada. If there is still no Brugada pattern, then you do not have Brugada. It is still fine even if you do nothing for your ECG pattern. There is no risk. I hope this has helped you. Take care.
