How to nourish frizzy, thin, dry, and weak hair in a short span?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 26-year-old female who suffers from hair damage and frizzy, weak, thin, and dry hair. I have not noticed any hair growth recently. Also, I want to improve the thickness of my hair. My hair is in a horrible state, and since I am getting married shortly, I want a solution immediately. I also take medicines for anxiety and depression.

Kindly help me solve the issue quickly.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern.

I suggest you to take hair nutrient pills containing biotin, zinc, calcium, and pantothenate, as they will help strengthen your hair. Also, I suggest you to follow a few instructions for hair care,

1. Always use lukewarm water for washing hair. Do not use hot water.

2. Do not comb when hair is wet.

3. Do not use a hair dryer. Instead, allow it to dry naturally after a bath.

4. Avoid hot iron straighteners, as it breaks the protein bond in the hair, making it brittle.

5. Hair is made up of a protein called keratin, so you must consume more proteins like eggs, fish, curd, milk, lentils, and chicken daily.

6. Exercise for 40 minutes a day, six days a week, to maintain the hormonal balance.

7. Use a comb that has a wide space between each tooth, and the tip of the tooth should be blunt. Always comb gently.

8. Avoid smoking; nicotine decreases blood supply to the hair roots, affecting hair growth.

9. Avoid wearing a tight pony. It would cause traction on hair, eventually leading to hair fall from the frontal area. Instead, keep the hair loosely tied.

Kindly consult a specialist, talk with them and take the medications with their consent.

I hope this information was helpful to you.

Take care.
